New USG Media Hub in Brussels

The US has opened a media facility in Brussels, offering the 12,000 journalists working there the chance to organise interviews with the many senior officials passing through this busy capital city. The facility is one of the latest initiatives by the Secretary of State, which has given public diplomacy a much higher profile during George Bush’s second term.

The term public diplomacy was used in the 1960s to describe aspects of international diplomacy other than contact between governments. It was originally a polite way of describing propaganda but this is certainly not the case any longer."
